Operations
The Cooke Underground mines and surface operations are producing between 180,000k oz and 220,000k oz of gold per year. They provide a solid operating base for the company and a material source of cash flow, which will assist in the funding of the development of the uranium business.
Gold production from the underground mines:
Rand Uranium’s mines are shallow (~1,000 meters), safe and efficient, with limited seismicity or heat challenges ( typically associated with South African underground gold mines). Ongoing exploration and resource development work, undertaken by our focused management team in conjunction with external consultants, has indicated that much of the Cooke Underground resource potential is not yet fully understood. It presents numerous life extension opportunities that justify significant exploration attention.
The Cooke Underground operations currently produce between 90,000 to 100,000 tpm of high grade gold ore with head grades of approximately 5.0g/t to equating to 15,000oz to 18,500oz of gold per month.
Gold production from the surface retreatment operation:
The Rand Uranium Cooke Plant is currently treating sand from Cooke 20 at a rate of 250,000tpm. The average grade of the material delivered to the plant is 0.45g/t, to equating to ~2,900oz of gold per month.
